Another Cracker Shiraz from Mike Press. Lashings of rich dark fruits and spicey vanillan oak flavours. With a small price increase on the last vintage its still one of the best buys around.

It's sweet with creamy vanillin oak but the fruit lying beneath is high in quality. Indeed the quality of the fruit (and tannin) here is as good as I've seen it in Mike Press Shiraz. Cherries, cranberries, plums and a healthy serve of integrated ground spice. Oak, for now, sits slightly separate, though time will help bind it all together. Sinewy tannin gives the wine a sense of strength. This is an excellent release, and terrific value. I suspect it would have been better again had different oak choices been made; but then, the end price may have been different too
